Meet the Governors
Why do we have Governors?
Our governing body consists of eleven people currently from various parts of the community – some are staff, some are parents and others just have an interest in helping our school. We meet twice per term but if necessary we can meet at other times.
Every school must have a governing body by law. As a governing body, we consider and make decisions that support the vision and goals of the school. We support the headteacher and the whole staff by considering how to increase standards of attainment and the quality of teaching and learning. We also look at financial matters and budget setting. Our Clerk, Sophie, takes minutes of every meeting to keep a record of discussions and decisions.
Governor days in school
The governors are invited into school every term and we spend a day with children, staff and classes to truly understand how the school works.
Some of the things we have focussed on have been
· School marking code and feedback in books
· School curricular targets and specific projects
· No Pens Day Wednesday
· Looking at progress in books
· Talking to children about their learning
We have been in classrooms, talked to children, taken part in assemblies and much more. These days really help us understand the issues faced in our school and therefore make decision making more informed.
Contacting the Governors
