House blog:

Another term finished, another competition completed!

Our children love these events and are so excited to show off their knowledge and expertise. As always, our competitions are divided into three exciting categories: Knowledge, Charity, and Sports.

Sports: 5 aside football

This half term the children at Mansel Park took part in a 5 a side football as their house competition. Year 1 and Year 2 were put into their houses and competed in football based challenges and ball skill based challenges to earn points for their house. While Year 3 and above all played 5 aside football matches to try and earn points. The children recapped the rules of football as well as looking at understanding why it’s important to play as a team, which gave them a wider perspective on all aspects of the sport. Below are all the results from their house competition:

Charity: NSPCC/Library

This half term we received a visit from NSPCC ambassadors talking us through safeguarding. We have also created some hand creations for our local library display. We are so excited to see the finished result.

Knowledge: Mental Maths (math-letics)

Knowledge is key and we know at Mansel Park how important our mental maths comprehension is for our progression of learning. The children were tested this morning to answer addition, subtraction, multiplication and even fractions questions! It was tricky but they all did a super job!

For the first time ever, we had a tie between all four houses! So to decide which house would come out on top, we had a times tables battle between our year 4 pupils (randomly selected from the audience) which is great practice for their up and coming times table assessment next term.

I can reveal that our winners for this term are RESILIENCE! Congratulations.
We are so excited for our next house competition next term! Stay tuned for what comes next!
