Nursery blog

'At nursery, we had a great time exploring pancakes. We identified a pancake shape "it's a circle", explored the sensory experience of flour, created our own playdough pancakes and practiced flipping them, pretending that our hands were our frying pans. We also listened to the story of 'the pancake man' joining in with the repeated refrain 'roll, roll as fast as you can, you can't put me in your frying pan'.

The best part about our pancake focus was that we got the chance to make a pancake mixture. The mixture consisted of plain flour, baking powder, oat milk and a little sprinkle of caster sugar - a vegan recipe. If you would like to know the quantities of each ingredient please ask Sam. We then had the yummy treat of eating our pancakes. We had 5 different toppings to choose from. We could choose lemon and sugar, banana, a small amount of jam, grapes or butter. Our pancakes were delicious!

We also were encouraged to use a knife and fork to eat our pancakes, having a go at a push and pull motion with a knife to cut the pancake into pieces.'
