Year 2 Marwell trip:

On Tuesday the 16th April, Year 2 had a wonderful day at Marwell Zoo.

The excitement began before we even got to the Zoo as we all travelled on a double decker coach. Once we arrived at Marwell, we set off to explore all the animals at the zoo! As the weather was so nice we were able to see lots of the animals out and about exploring the areas they live in. Some of our favourite animals were the penguins sunbathing on the rocks, the giraffes eating hay with their long, black tongues and the different types of monkeys-they were very cute! We really enjoyed our workshop in the rainforest enclosure and learnt that sloths only come down from the trees to poop once a week!

This whole day of exploring the zoo links into the unit of work we are doing in writing currently. It was great to explore different vocabulary for how the animals moved, the environment they live in and all their collective nouns. Did you know a group of flamingos is called a flamboyance!

What a brilliant day we had!
