Year 1 blog:
We have made a fantastic start to Year 1, and the children have been amazing! They have settled into their new routines so well and have been working hard to follow our school rules of being Ready, Respectful and Safe.
In Maths, we have been consolidating our understanding of numbers to 10 through lots of fun and practical activities. The children have enjoyed forming numbers using playdough, matching numerals to quantities and building number towers. We have also been recapping patterns and had great fun creating our own patterns using natural resources. We then took our learning further by exploring different ways to organise patterns, using trial and error to find solutions.
In RE, we have been learning all about creating. The children have loved exploring their creativity using a range of resources, including building blocks, chalk and sand. It has been wonderful to see their imaginations come to life!
In Science, we have been learning all about our bodies and our senses. We have explored the different parts of the body by drawing around our friends and carefully labelling different body parts. We have also been investigating our five senses and took our learning outdoors, exploring nature as we used our senses to touch, see and listen for different things around us.
It has been a wonderful start to Year 1, and we are so proud of how brilliantly the children have settled in and embraced their learning. We are looking forward to all the exciting learning and adventures still to come!
