Sanctuary School:

Sanctuary simply means a safe place – somewhere people feel welcome, included and cared for. A School of Sanctuary is a school that makes sure every child and family feels that sense of safety and belonging.

We’re really excited to let you know that Mansel Park has started its journey towards becoming a recognised School of Sanctuary. This means we’ll be continuing the work we already do in creating a warm, welcoming school, while also taking extra steps to show what sanctuary looks like in action.

Our children already live out so many of these values day to day – they show kindness to their friends, respect for one another, and empathy when someone needs help. As a school community we are proud of this, and working towards becoming a School of Sanctuary is a way of having those strengths celebrated and recognised more formally.

This project is being led by Miss Rowe and Mrs Wood, and in the coming weeks we will be holding elections so that children across the school can put themselves forward as Sanctuary Leads. These pupils will help share ideas, encourage others and make sure that sanctuary values are at the heart of everything we do.

We’re looking forward to keeping you updated on this journey and sharing the different ways that Mansel Park will continue to be a place where everyone feels they truly belong.
