Year 3 blog:

So far this half-term, Year 3 have been exploring Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox and, in particular, the unforgettable trio of farmers—Boggis, Bunce, and Bean. The children quickly noticed how Dahl uses exaggeration, humour, and plenty of disgusting details to make these villains so memorable.

Inspired by his style, our pupils planned and wrote their own “evil farmers.” Together we brainstormed unpleasant habits, nasty personalities, and exaggerated quirks to make each character truly unique. The children experimented with powerful adjectives, vivid similes, and imagery designed to make their readers laugh, cringe, and imagine every detail.

The results were both creative and hilarious! Among the new farmers are one who eats only slimy slugs, another who hoards chocolate from local children, and one whose awful smell makes birds fall out of the sky. Year 3 worked hard to build vivid descriptions that captured Dahl’s spirit while adding their own twists.

We are delighted to say that Year 3 have now published their writing—sharing their wonderfully disgusting creations with everyone to enjoy!  Roald Dahl would have definitely been impressed!
