Year 5 blog:

This week in Year 5, pupils have been learning how to use a protractor to measure angles up to 180 degrees. While it can be a tricky skill at first, the children have shown great focus and determination as they practised aligning the protractor correctly and reading the scale accurately.

Through a range of practical activities, they explored different types of angles and developed their confidence in measuring them precisely. There were plenty of “lightbulb moments” as pupils began to understand how to choose the correct scale and check the size of an angle.

This important skill will support their understanding of geometry and problem-solving as they continue to build their mathematical knowledge.
