Year 5 blog:
What an exciting start to our Year 5 residential! As soon as we arrived at the centre, the children took part in a warm and welcoming introduction briefing before heading off to explore.
Their first stop was the space exhibits downstairs, where they threw themselves into hands-on activities—discovering how sound travels, experimenting with different scientific setups, and even seeing themselves through a thermal camera! After all that excitement, everyone enjoyed a well-earned treat of hot chocolate and a Kit Kat.
The learning continued as we moved on to more interactive exhibits. The children tested out their engineering skills with earthquake-proof tower building, explored push and pull forces, and investigated how sound works in different environments. It was wonderful to see them so engaged and enthusiastic.
To end the evening, we settled down inside the planetarium dome for a magical film experience the highlight of the trip - so far! Afterwards, it was time to get cosy, tuck into bed, and enjoy a good night’s sleep, ready for tomorrow’s adventures.
The children have been fantastic, all settled wonderfully and we can’t wait to share more updates with you soon!
