Year 6 blog:

Our final full day at Skern Lodge did not disappoint. This morning, we headed straight to the beach for an epic surfing and bodyboarding session. Wetsuits on and boards in hand, the children hit the waves with enthusiasm and bravery. Whether they were catching their first wave or just enjoying the thrill of the sea, everyone gave it their all.

After warming up and drying off, we moved on to the next challenge: climbing and abseiling. High up on the climbing wall, the children showed incredible courage and determination, pushing themselves higher and higher with every step. The abseiling proved just as exciting, and it was amazing to see the smiles (and a few nervous giggles) as they made their way back down with pride.

Dinner tonight was a treat — a family-style BBQ out on the grass. With music playing, the sun shining, and everyone gathered together, it was the perfect way to celebrate everything we’ve done this week. Burgers, sausages, veggie options, and lots of chatter made it a meal to remember.

As the sun began to set, we finished the evening with a scavenger hunt across the site. In teams, the children raced to find objects such as: two identical items, an item with all the colours of the rainbow and a size 1 shoe! It was the perfect mix of energy and excitement to close the day.

Finally, we returned to our rooms to start the big task — packing up! Suitcases were filled (some more neatly than others!) ready for our final morning activity tomorrow of tunnelling and an assault course.

It’s hard to believe how quickly the week has flown by. One last sleep here at Skern Lodge before we head home, full of memories, stories, and maybe a bit of sand in our shoes.
